We had about 1/2 inch of snow overnight but it played havoc
on the rt 70 highway by the Eisenhower tunnel. There were several accidents at
the approach to the tunnel and they had to close the eastbound lanes for
several hours around 9am. This caused a 8 mile backup. What a way to start the
morning. After church we went to the Dam Brewery for Brunch. After lunch, the
day warmed up into the low 40s so we went to Copper Mtn to check out the
crowds. At the base, the snow was extremely soft and we wondered how the people
could ski in this. But the people we asked all said that it was OK. As we
returned home and listened to the radio, the travel time to Denver was 3 hours. That's about 2 hours
longer than normal. The forecast for the coming week is for more warm temps and
very little snow. In fact, Copper Mtn is now calling for Spring conditions.
This is about 1 month earlier than normal.
