Wednesday 02-08-17

Overnight we received about 5 inches of new snow along with very high winds. Winds were about 40-50 MPH with gusts at the ski resorts approaching 80 MPH. We had snow drifts in the parking lot of a foot or more. It continued to snow most of the day with additional 2 inches accumulating. Around 11:30am, the winds died down and we decided to go to Keystone to try and get a couple of runs in. To my surprise, the parking lot was crowded, but most of the people were staying in the lodge area. We skied for about 2 hours and then returned home for lunch. Around 3pm, the snow stopped and it started to clear up. The setting sun behind the mountains made for a spectacular sunset. Now the forecast for tomorrow calls for sunny skies and temps in the high 40s. This will cause a lot of snow melt. Hopefully it will also make for GREAT ski conditions.
